Martha Stewart Embossed Button Double Craft Punch
1. Fold 6x6 Colonial White CS in half to form 3x6 card base. Swipe edges of card front with Outdoor Denim ink.
2. Rub or drag Heavenly Blue ink over 2x3 Colonial White CS. Randomly stamp one of the small images from the Shining Star stamp set with Outdoor Denim ink and then ink edges of the CS panel.
3. Ink the edges of the Bamboo CS piece.
4. Stamp long skinny star with Cranberry ink onto 2 ¼ x 5 Colonial White CS panel. Cut out image with Micro-Tip Scissors.
5. To dry emboss border around Outdoor Denim CS:
- Remove the cutting blade from the paper trimmer.
- Place 4 x 2 ½ Outdoor Denim CS panel on paper trimmer as if
you were going to trim 1/8 inch off one edge.
- Run the Dry Embossing/Scoring Stylus along the cutting track
over the Outdoor Denim CS. Move panel over to ¼ inch and dry
emboss again.
- Rotate the CS panel and repeat embossing on each edge of card.
- Turn over CS so that the raised border is face up & sand CS -
since our CS is coated with a white core, sanding will remove color from the raised areas so the white core will show through. You can also sand the entire surface of the CS panel as much as desired.
6. Instead of using real buttons on this card, I punched 3 Cranberry CS buttons with the Martha Stewart Embossed Button Double Craft Punch (I found it at Michael’s). You can also use real buttons if desired or stamp buttons in Cranberry ink with images from the Buttoned Together stamp set (C1361).
7. Thread Cranberry CS buttons with Natural Hemp and tie knot in back.
8. To assemble card:
- Attach the 2x3 Colonial White CS panel ½” from bottom.
- Attach Bamboo CS panel about ¼” from top and 1/8” from left fold
- Attach Outdoor Denim CS panel about 3/8” from top of card and about 1/8” from right side of card.
- To make slit for twill ribbon: place cutting blade back into paper trimmer and line up fold of card along cutting track. Position cutting blade over the card fold where you want to cut the ½” slit for the twill ribbon. Thread twill ribbon through slit, tie knot, and trim.
- Attach star to right side of card front with one bottom point of star
going over ribbon and the other going under the ribbon.
- Attach thin strips of foam squares to back of Cranberry CS buttons (I placed the foam square pieces to the edge of the buttons so the foam squares wouldn’t show through the holes of the buttons). |
